No matter how hard we try our best in the garden, there are things completely outside of our control which can leave us exasperated.
This beautifully maintained lawn was fit to play croquet on (does anyone actually play croquet) until the antics of Mr Mole put paid to that.

This dazzling, single yellow dahlia has chocolate coloured foliage and looked good enough to eat this afternoon.

It’s called Dahlia ‘Knockout’.
This beautiful Aster x frikartii ‘Mönch’ is just coming into flower in our garden. The photo really doesn’t do the colour any justice as its a true lavender blue.
I’ve planted them alongside Miscanthus ‘Flamingo’, Echinacea purpurea, blue Agapanthus and Rudbeckias. They look great!
As we head into late summer some of my favourite plants come into their own. I spotted two of my favourites in the nursery at Knoll Gardens yesterday…
The drop-dead gorgeous Echinacea purpurea ‘Augustkönigin’ and the stunning Aster ‘Wunder von Stäfa’.
A beautiful combination which looks great weaving through a meandering stream of Miscanthus ‘Flamingo’ and Verbena bonariensis.
